HISTORY OF DEPARTMENT

Pharmaceutical faculty and Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry were founded and developed simultaneously. However, it should be noted, that the names of disciplines and department name changing.

From 1 September 2000 in Horbachevskyi Ternopil State Medical Academy began lessons on the course of chemical-pharmaceutical, which at that time was part of the Department of Biology and Medical Genetics with disciplines Pharmacognosy (Head of the Department – candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, docent S.M. Marchyshyn). The course was led candidate of Chemical Sciences L.V. Vronska. N.I. Latsik and I.B. Ivanusa were laboratory assistants. The course is housed on Ruska street, 36.

In June 2001, the first academic year for students of Pharmaceutical faculty ended. It was second set of students who started education on two professions "Pharmacy" and "Clinical Pharmacy". Number of students increased, so number of disciplines increased too. Therefore course of chemical-pharmaceutical disciplines was reorganized into the department of chemical-pharmaceutical disciplines. From August to December 2001 head of Department of chemical-pharmaceutical disciplines was candidate of Chemical Sciences L.V. Vronska, and from December 2001 head of department was elected of Pedagogical Sciences, Professor L.M. Romanyshyna.

The teachers at that time: prof. L.M. Romanyshyna, candidates of Chemical Sciences L.V. Vronska, G.Y. Zagrychuk, O.V. Krykhovets, V.P. Bodrov, candidate of Biological Sciences M. M. Mykhalkiv, assistant N.I. Latsik. Laboratory assistants of department: I.B. Ivanusa, S.Y. Derevoriz, M.I. Boris, A.V. Ilyasov, O.S. Krys'kiv.

A year later (June-August 2002) number of teachers on department increased: teachers from other educational institutions came in Horbachevskyi Ternopil State Medical Academy (candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Associate Professor L.V. Sokolova; candidate of Pharmaceutical Sciences, senior lecturer V.I. Gnidets; candidate of Technical Sciences O.I. Gulay, candidate of Biological Sciences I.Y. Solovodzinska). Laboratory assistance of the department replenished such new laboratory assistants and senior laboratory as I.Z. Kernychna, P.G. Lyhatskyy, L.M. Mosula, L.R. Falendysh, S.I. Sabat.

In December 2002 Dr. Pharm. Sciences, professor T.A. Groshovyy came to work on pharmaceutical faculty. Then the Department of chemical-pharmaceutical disciplines was divided into two: the department of pharmaceutical disciplines (includes disciplines: pharmaceutical chemistry, pharmaceutical technology of drug, analytical chemistry, metrology) and Department of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry (includes disciplines: inorganic chemistry, organic chemistry, physical methods of analysis, physical and colloid chemistry). Professor T.A. Groshovyy headed department of pharmaceutical disciplines and Department of Inorganic and Organic Chemistry – professor L.M. Romanyshyna.

From July 2003, the department of pharmaceutical disciplines, due to the increasing number of disciplines, again was divided into two: the Department of pharmaceutical disciplines (organisation and economy of pharmacy and technology of medicines) and the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry with analytical and toxicological chemistry (pharmaceutical chemistry, medicinal chemistry, analytical chemistry, toxicological chemistry, metrology).

Since August 2003 the Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry with analytical and toxicological chemistry had the following staff: docent L.V. Vronska (Head of department), docent D.B. Korobko (Head of Pharmaceutical Chemistry course, was invited to work from the Pharmaceutical Faculty of Zaporizhzhia State Medical University), docent L.P. Yavorska (from Lviv National Medical University), senior lecturer V.I. Gnidets, candidate of Biological Sciences M. M. Mykhalkiv, assistants I.B. Ivanusa and L.M. Mosula, laboratory assistant S.E. Derevoriz.

In different years of department working at high pedagogical load was invited to work off-hour job: chief of State Inspection of Quality Control of Drugs in Ternopil region G.G. Krynitska, candidate of Chemical Science, pharmacist I.M. Bobyk, pharmacists N.M. Korobko and M.Z. Chekhovich, pharmacists and of State Inspection of Quality Control of Drugs N.O. Repiy, A.M. Zozulya, G.I. Maglyovana.

Since the beginning of 2005 as a senior laboratory O.R. Tushych at the department was working and O.B. Polyak started to teach, which soon became a candidate of pharmaceutical sciences.

In July 2006, number of students of Pharmaceutical faculty decreased, Department of Pharmaceutical Chemistry with analytical and toxicological chemistry was combined with Department of inorganic and organic chemistry in Department of pharmaceutical chemistry, which is attached Medical Chemistry courses for Ist year students of medical and dental faculties. Head of the department was doc. L.V. Vronska.

The teaching staff of Department of pharmaceutical chemistry at that time: Associate Professors L.V. Vronska, D.B. Korobko, L.P. Yavorska, G.Y. Zagrychuk, Y.B. Dmuhalska, M. M. Mykhalkiv, senior lecturers V.I. Gnidets and O.B. Polyak, assistants A.Y. Demyd, L.M. Ivanets, I.B. Ivanusa, N.A. Vasylyshyn, M.V. Chorna, I.R. Backus, O.R. Tushych, L.M. Mosula.
